Life After Gastric Bypass Surgery

Experience and information from a Gastric Bypass Postop RNYer

First Weight Loss Surgery Support Group

Bad news:

I got sick as a dog today with a fever and chills. I felt like I was coming down with something on Sunday and today started the full-fledged symptoms of the flu.

Now for the good news:
I got my loan from 401K plan to get my car fixed. Woohoo! The reason I went to work despite feeling like I had a fever was 1) to pick up my car from the repair shop after work and 2) to attend the WLS support group. I wasn’t going to let a little sickness keep me from achieving two of my goals today.

In reality I didn’t realize how sick I was until I was sitting in work feeling feverish and then chills, but I made it to the end of the day and made it to the WLS group.

It reminded me of Weight Watchers but with more emphasis on the psychological without being completely food-related advice.

To my surprise I met someone on my obesityhelp friends list, Theresa aka fattykoo3. This was a surprise because this group is supposed to be for pre-ops and post-ops up to a year, and I knew she was more than a year post-op. But it was great to meet her in person. I don’t know what she looked like before but she looks great, even better in person than in her picture. :)

It feels good to check off another to-do on the WLS preop list.
