Follow-up with Primary Care Physician – :(

Sunday 25 March 2007 @ 10:39 pm

I have a follow-up appointment with my primary care physician tomorrow and I’m not looking forward to it. I wish I had chosen a PCP who was supportive of WLS but at least she gave me a referral.

I don’t know what she’s going to say when I tell her I didn’t start the diet. I’m going to tell her I can’t follow a diet that has red meat and beans and that doesn’t allow for substitutions. I also don’t think it made any sense to go on a diet before being evaluated for WLS. I have to remind myself not to be combative with her about dieting because having a statement in my record that I am uncooperative would be a strike against me.

Social Worker Consult

Thursday 22 March 2007 @ 11:58 pm

I was very lucky at my surgery consult because I was able to book my first two follow-up appointments within a week. I got my social worker consult today. She is very nice and quite a character. She told me she agreed with my doctor and that I should see a counsellor for depression and that she would recommend to Dr. Khalili that I see the counsellor a couple times. This is scary to me because it means I need to squeeze in two more appointments on top of all the other appointments I have to make and miss work. But I have to do it. It is not optional since I have no support system. Oh well, I’ll do it.

Surgery Consultation

Thursday 22 March 2007 @ 11:42 pm

I had my surgery consultation on 3/20/07, and I have to say it was marvelous! Most of my time was spent speaking to Dr. Doriaswami (sorry about the spelling if it’s wrong), who was very nice and encouraging. My favorite part was when he told me “you’re a young woman”. I haven’t heard that in a while, and at 43 I may never hear it again..hehe! He told me I was an ideal candidate for surgery.

Surgery Consultation Tomorrow

Monday 19 March 2007 @ 10:27 pm

Well, tomorrow is the big day, my consultation with Dr. Khalili. I’m excited and worried.

Wish I didn’t wait until the last minute to finish gathering my documentation of previous dieting attempts. I got a bunch of receipts but I wish I had better records of my weight during those programs. Oh Well.

At least I’ve got plenty of proof that I’ve tried to lose weight over and over again (and spent lots of money too–I want my money back!) I’ve got receipts from diet programs going back to 1987.
